Hi, this is Jeramey McElhaney, and I am running for the United States Congress in Utah's 2nd Congressional District. I am not a wealthy or privileged individual, so I will not be able to undertake such a monumental task alone. I need your help, together we can change the way business is handled in Washington, D.C.
"I think our great nation has the best form of government ever conceived by mankind; it was truly divinely inspired. The problem with our government isn't so much the system, but the people we have allowed to have the power. The problem with politics is the politicians. In an era of kings, lords, and empires, our Founding Fathers created a system of government that gave absolute power to the people. Somewhere in the last 225 years, we have gotten away from that noble concept and have continued to elect members of a 'ruling class'. The extremely wealthy, well-connected, or of a certain political pedigree have been elected to power time and time again. I feel it is time to break this cycle. We need to return to the Founders vision of electing public servants who will be answerable to the people. When they are finished with public service, our elected officials should return to the private sector, and once again, become productive members of society
I have never held public office, and until now, I have never had any desire to do so. I am not a career politician trying to take the next step in my career. I am simply a common man. A small business owner who has seen career politicians afraid to tackle the major issues for fear of losing the next election. A true leader leads by example, not by polling before every decision is made. Courage is defined by the absolute certainty that what you are doing is morally correct, and standing by your position in the face of overwhelming opposition. This is what I think Utahns deserve, and what we demand. This is the People's House! It is time we take our House back!"
